TAMBA: Building the trails we love

The Lake Tahoe area sees over 15 million visitors each year. A substantial number of those visitors spend time exploring the network of hiking and mountain biking trails that wind through the forests and along ridgelines above the lake. In 2020, with the arrival of Covid, trail usage increased dramatically as visitors, second-home owners, and local residents all decided the place they wanted to be was away from people and in the woods. Busy trails became a powerful reminder of how critical it is that trails are maintained and new trails built.
