by NCN Staff and a press release from the Inslee for President campaign

Reno – On Monday April 21, Earth Day, Washington Governor Jay Inslee will tour the Copper Mountain Solar 3 facility in Nevada as he continues his “Climate Mission Tour.”

According to a press release, Inslee will travel to Boulder City, Nevada at 11:00AM PT to visit the Copper Mountain Solar 3 complex. In addition to being one of the largest photovoltaic solar facilities in the United States, Copper Mountain is an example of how union labor can serve as a foundation for clean energy jobs as we transition to a 100% clean energy economy.

Inslee will be joined on the tour by representatives from IBEW Local 357 and current employees of Copper Mountain Solar. The third phase of the Copper Mountain Solar complex resides on more than 1,400 acres of land and powers more than 90,000 homes. Operating since 2015, Copper Mountain Solar 3 has reduced greenhouse gas emissions by about 419,000 tons annually—the same as taking nearly 90,000 cars off the road. Its development created more than 500 jobs, demonstrating the strong economic potential of building a clean energy economy.

Inslee, who is the only presidential candidate who has made defeating climate change and building a clean energy economy the cornerstone of his campaign, has been making stops to speak with voters across the country as part of his “Climate Mission Tour.” Since launching his campaign in March, he has visited Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina, Nevada, Texas, California, New York, and Oregon.
